How ARO Products Work Together
Most of what is in this shop sits on the same compressed air line, in the same order. Following that order is the easiest way to choose:
- 1. Filter A compressed air filter takes out water, dirt and oil first, so nothing downstream is damaged by it.
- 2. Regulate An air pressure regulator sets the pressure each machine, tool or pump needs, and holds it as demand changes.
- 3. Lubricate An air line lubricator adds oil mist, only for equipment whose manual calls for lubricated air.
- 4. Control Needle and flow control valves fine-tune the clean, regulated air: cylinder speed, pump speed and one-way flow.
- 5. Pump An ARO diaphragm pump runs on that air to move the liquid. It needs filtered air but no lubrication, and its repair kits keep it in service.
Two shortcuts
A piggyback filter regulator does steps 1 and 2 in one compact body. An FRL combination unit does steps 1 to 3 in one pre-assembled set, with one part number to order.

More Than 95 Years of ARO
ARO began in 1930 as the Aro Equipment Corporation in Bryan, Ohio, making lubrication equipment. Valves, cylinders and air system components followed in the 1960s, and air operated diaphragm pumps in the early 1980s. Since 1990, ARO has been part of Ingersoll Rand, and the ARO name still stands on its pumps, valves and FRL products.
That engineering shows in the details. ARO-Flo air preparation units are modular within each series, so filters, regulators and lubricators can be combined or separated for service with a minimum of tools. In ARO's own head-to-head testing, the smallest 1/4" ARO-Flo regulator flowed on average 38 percent more air than four competing 1/4" regulators.
